Ink XML

The Ink Markup Language (InkXML) is a data format for representing digital ink data that is input with an electronic pen or stylus as part of a multimodal system. In the context of the W3C Multimodal Interaction Framework, the markup provides a format for:

bullettransferring digital ink data between devices and software components 
bulletstoring hand-input traces for: 
bulletHandwriting recognition (including text, mathematics, chemistry) 
bulletSignature verification 
bulletGesture interpretation

1Dual Tone Multi-Frequency. This is the system used by touch-tone telephones. DTMF assigns a specific frequency, or tone, to each key.
