Lack of Unique Identification
A common characteristic of complex data is that it is represented by a graph. The figure shows a graph structure of objects representing XML data in a catalog. In this graph structure, it is not necessary for each node in the graph to have a unique identification. For example, each color swatch does not necessarily have a unique identification.
This lack of unique identification is one characteristic of complex data.
